Nintendo and Koei Tecmo released Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on November 6th, 2025, promising fans of The Legend of Zelda a fresh adventure that is canon to the story of the original series. The game focuses on the long-referenced but rarely depicted Imprisoning War—an event mentioned several times in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, yet only lightly shown through flashbacks. For Zelda fans eager to dive deeper into the events leading up to Tears of the Kingdom, this game immediately offers a compelling hook.

Is It Worth 100% Completing Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment?

One of the most striking aspects of Age of Imprisonment is just how much story content it contains. There are hours—yes, literal hours—of cutscenes that expand on the Imprisoning War in ways Tears of the Kingdom never does. Players are introduced to a wide roster of previously unseen characters, conflicts, and plot elements that flesh out Hyrule’s distant past. By the time the credits roll on the main campaign, you’ll likely feel as though you’ve witnessed a full cinematic prequel to Tears of the Kingdom.

But once that satisfying campaign ends, many players may begin to wonder: Is there anything more the game has to offer? And more importantly: Is it actually worth 100% completing Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment?

The Real Answer: It Depends on What You Value

If you’re someone who loves optimizing gameplay, pushing characters to their absolute limits, and watching the Demon King crumble under the weight of your fully upgraded roster, then yes—completion may be worth it. Going for full completion gives you a reason to keep fighting, leveling, and experimenting. Just be aware: reaching true 100% completion can easily require another 10–20 hours of gameplay on top of the main story.

However, if you’re chasing more narrative content—extra lore, new cutscenes, additional world-building, or hidden story revelations—then you may want to temper your expectations. Age of Imprisonment frontloads almost all of its meaningful story into the main campaign. Once that’s finished, you’ve already seen the game’s narrative peak.

What Do You Actually Get for 100% Completion?

When you complete every side quest and turn every icon on the map green, your reward is… an alternative credits roll. That’s essentially it.

This special credits sequence presents the same story beats from the game, but displayed as an animated mural rather than as in-engine cutscenes. It’s visually charming and the accompanying music is genuinely beautiful, but in terms of new content, it offers almost nothing. No new lore, no additional dialogue, no surprises—just a stylish retelling of what you already know.

So the big question arises: Is an alternate credits mural really worth gathering dozens of every crafting material, clearing out countless Bokoblins, repeating boss fights multiple times, and replaying missions over and over?

For most players, the answer will be no.

Final Verdict

Once you’ve completed the main campaign, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment simply doesn’t have much additional narrative depth to offer. Beyond the alternate credits sequence, the remaining content mostly consists of side missions, non-voice-acted dialogue, and repetitive combat encounters.

If you love the gameplay loop and want to squeeze every drop of combat satisfaction out of it, then full completion can be a fun challenge. But if you’re expecting meaningful new story content, the 100% reward will likely feel underwhelming.

In short: complete the main story, enjoy the adventure, and think carefully before embarking on the long grind toward full completion.
